Faculty/Staff Breakfast, Blood Drive, Residence Hall Dinner & Talent Search ... Oh My!!

So I'm sitting in Pruis Hall at the Blood Drive, and I can't believe we are already on day three of Homecoming Week! We've already had the Flag Football Prelims on Sunday and Opening Ceremonies & Fireworks last night, both of which were great successes!

Today has been an especially busy day for me already. The General Chair, Chanel, and I each got to speak on the 104.1 WLBC about Homecoming with Steve Lindell. We then went to the Faculty/Staff Breakfast and ate some really good food, thanks to the Ball State Federal Credit Union! The breakfast was a really good opportunity for the committee and myself to socialize with the professors and other faculty at Ball State. It's also a really good way for all of us to say thanks for all the hard work they do.

As I said earlier, I am currently helping at the Blood Drive, which was put together with the help from the American Red Cross. All day, students, faculty and the Muncie community have been donating blood and saving lives.

Next is the Residence Halls Dinner starting at 5 p.m. in Elliott, Noyer and LaFollette Halls. I am very excited for this because I can't wait to eat some good food! Meals are free with a dining swipe or $7.55 for all of you off-campus students. Everyone will also get an awesome "Rock the Red" nalgene water bottle!

The highlight and ending to Tuesday of Homecoming Week is the Student Scholarship Talent Search in Emens Auditorium! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. There were around 70 acts who auditioned and it was narrowed down to 20, so we have the cream of the crop for tonight's entertainment. There is will be $4,500 worth of scholarships to give away and one lucky person in attendance will have the chance to win a FREE IPOD NANO!

I hope everyone comes out to the great week of events we have planned and be sure to come out to Talent Search tonight! It will be a great show!!

Homecoming Week!

Wow....I've been sitting here at my computer, eating cheerios, and I can't stop thinking about how freaking amazing Homecoming Week is going to be. Think about the best day you've had throughout your entire life....and MULTIPLY THAT BY 7! It's going to be a crazy week jam packed with amazingness. You better get hype.

Anywhoo...on a more serious note, I have something fantastic to tell you about!! The American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, October 5th 2010 from 9:00am-3:00pm at Pruis Hall.

If you would like to make an appointment to give blood, please go to www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: ballstate to set up an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome! You can earn up to 40 Ashley Points for your organization.

The Red Cross is in great need of blood donations. The Homecoming Steering Committee is fairly large and we will hunt you down if you do not give blood. See you all there giving blood from 9:00am-3:00pm....or else.

ROCK THE RED! :)

Rock the RED!!

Hey everybody, my name is Matt Wells and I am in charge of Community Relations/Sponsorships and Promotions for Homecoming 2010. We are starting to get things together in our preparations for the biggest week of the school year!

Sponsorships and promotions are a huge part of each event that occur throughout the week. As always, the committee is looking for donations from anybody and everybody that wants to be a part of Homecoming! However, a big push this year is bringing the sponsors to the students and connecting the community with our beautiful campus. How is this going to happen? Simple.

Air Jam will include a brand-new "sponsorship row" of local businesses who will be on-site giving away items and information about their companies to interested students. They will be there at the door, waiting on you, and ready to showcase their business on one of the biggest nights of the year. It's too early to unveil who is going to be involved, but it's something to get excited about!

Finally, if anyone wants to get involved with Homecoming on a promotional side or via donation, feel free to contact me at bsuhomecoming10promotions@gmail.com to set up a meeting! I would love to hear from you and I am extremely excited for the week of October 4-9, leading all the way to a battle against MAC West foe Western Michigan!

GO CARDS AND... ROCK THE RED!

What's New this Year!

As the title to this post suggest there are some new things this year's upcoming "Rock the Red" Homecoming 2010.

This is Bryan and I am one of the Special Event Coordinators and my event is going to blow your socks off. Last year was BSU's first ever all campus Flag Football Tournament. What goes best with football and friends? Grilling out of course!

Before the Flag Football Tournament we will be having our first ever "Pimp My Grill" Tailgate Contest. Organizations, Faculty/Staff, alumni, and students will compete for the ULTIMATE TAILGATING PACKAGE!

We potentially might also have a live band to play while the competitors are setting up as well as enjoying themselves before the game!

We will be giving out the awards during halftime of the Championship Game. Awards will be given to divisional winners, an overall winner, and Best Food Entrée!

Get excited for "Rock the Red" and "Pimp My Grill"!

My baby this year is the Flag Football Tournament--yes, it's back for a 2nd run!! This year we've decided on a major change though.
